New Day, New Life

This date will always be linked with The Pogues in my mind.

I still vividly remember waking up on this date seven years ago to Carl Kasell's voice reporting that planes had struck the World Trade Center. Except that now that I think about it, I am certain it was Ann Taylor's voice I heard that morning. I will never forget it, yet it is all a blur.

The phone woke me up this morning at 7 a.m. It was Julie, calling me to tell me she gave birth to Andrew John Henry at 12:30 a.m.

So for this new baby, I offer him one of Julian's favorite lullabies (another song which makes me cry), This Land Is Your Land.
